Chantal Jordan & Jay Joshua vs. Big Man Inc (Adam Bolt & Jackie T)
Bolt comes in with a Spartan medallion from earlier in the series – but if his team fails to win, he’ll forfeit the medal.
Jackie and Joshua start us off as a shoulder tackle and powerslam from Joshua looked saw him race into an early lead. Chantal Jordan comes in to work over the arm, before tags brought Joshua back in to take on Bolt, whose enziguiri found a way through. Headscissors just about take Joshua down, but Bolt celebrated too much and turned around into a kick from Jordan.
Jordan’s diving kick forces Bolt to make the tag out as Jackie T bragged that his padded vest would save him from Chantal’s kicks. Jay Joshua strips him of it, allowing Chantal to take advantage with some kicks before Adam Bolt pulled Jordan down by the hair as she strayed into the wrong corner.
That turn around continued was Jordan was suplexed onto Bolt’s knees, before Bolt choked on her in the ropes. Another double-team sees Jordan take a sidewalk slam and elbow drop as Bolt and Jackie kept Jordan in their corner while also winding up Jay Joshua to mask some more illegal double-teaming.
Jordan back body drops Bolt into Jackie to get herself free, allowing a tag to Jay Joshua who ran wild through both opponents. There’s a brutal lariat on Bolt for a near-fall there, before Jackie T hit a Slingblade to Chantal Jordan… a roll-up got Bolt a near-fall as Jordan found himself in trouble, leading to a back cracker/spinebuster combo on Jay for a near-fall.
Jordan tags back in to go for a suplex on Jackie… but a blind tag means her Falcon Arrow’s for nought. Bolt tries to steal the pin, before a gift-wrapped back cracker gave him another near-fall on Jordan… but the double-teaming’s stopped when Jay Joshua got back into the ring, taking care of Jackie with a German suplex.
Jackie’s still legal, and he’s not long for this match as he’s met with a kick-assisted piledriver as Chantal Jordan picked up the pin – which gives a Cerberus medal to Jordan and Joshua, and also means Bolt loses his medal from earlier. ***
We’ve a replay of Sha Samuels’ win against Joey Slade last week… followed by Sha commiserating Joey backstage and giving him words of encouragement.
Promo time as we’re reintroduced to Tyler Owens – he’s undefeated around these parts, and is going to be a part of this tournament. How many people are involved in this?! That’s followed up by Oscar Prospero giving a theatrical response as he seeks to prove himself.
After an ad break, we’re treated to a recap of Angel Hayze vs. Hollie Barlow from last week – segueing into Nina Samuels backstage catching up with Barlow. Nina offers her services to Hollie, but Claudia Bradstone’s there to help “persuade” Hollie, and these two are now a team. Willingly or otherwise.
Next week: Oscar Prospero vs. Tyler Owens… and Claudia Bradstone & Hollie Barlow vs. Maddy Morgan & Melissa Fierce… plus Charli Evans vs. Angel Hayze vs. Madison Marley.
Joseph Conners vs. Leon Cage
After Adam Bolt was sent back to square one, Conners will become the first to pick up two medals with a win here, having won a Chronos medal in his victory over Sheikh el Sham earlier in the series.
The opening lock-up’s thrown aside as Cage looked to surprise the veteran early on, scoring with a drop toe hold that ended with Conners making it to the ropes. In return, Conners takes Cage down to the mat, but the youngster rolls free before he armdragged his way out of a tiltawhirl backbreaker.
Someone’s car alarm is finally turned off as the pair stay on the mat, with headlock takedowns, headscissor counters and escapes finally lead to some headscissors that took Conners outside. A tope from Cage just sees him wipe out Riley Nova though as he took the bullet, allowing Conners to capitalise with a back suplex onto the side of the ring.
Back inside, Conners drops a knee as he began to wear down Cage, launching him across the ring with a suplex throw for a two-count. Cage’s attempt to fight back earns him a lariat, which he’s able to kick out of as Conners remained a step ahead. Escaping a suplex, Cage manages to return with an enziguiri, then with a cartwheel’d enziguiri into the corner as a set up for a trip up top.
Cage rolls through a 450 splash and adds a dropkick seconds later for a near-fall, before the pair resumed trading chops, but its Conners’ strikes that looked to have more behind them as he swatted Cage away mid-springboard… only to get a suplex reversed as Leon almost nicked the win.
Cage tees up for something, but Riley Nova grabs the leg to distract him… Conners capitalises with a snap backbreaker and a DDT for a near-fall, before Cage’s search for a flash pin led to him hitting a springboard cutter for a near-fall of his own. From there, Cage hangs up Conners in the ropes for the stompy powerbomb, but Nova makes the save before Conners hits the DDT and backbreaker pair one more time for the win. That’s got Conners one medal away from a title match… and with Riley Nova in his corner, that remaining Cerberus medal from a multi-person match is almost a given at this point. ***
All in all, a pair of solid matches from the Underground this week – and with Joseph Conners in the lead, it feels like we’re close to finding out a part of the title picture in the coming weeks.
