With the dust settled on the Pro-Wrestling Grand Prix, we’ve got the small matter of having to crown a new Shotgun champion.
Quick Result
Alex Duke pinned Miles Deville, Robert Dreissker and Zoltan to win the wXw Shotgun Championship in 6:39 (***)
— In the next week or so, I’ll be chatting about this show with Mike Kilby on the Auf Die Fresse podcast. Links to stream that episode when it drops, as well as back episodes are available at AufDieFresse.co.uk
With a week’s delay in order to check on everyone’s injuries, we’ve got a new Shotgun… and we’re not messing about as it’s straight in with our match!
wXw Shotgun Championship: Robert Dreissker vs. Alex Duke vs. Miles Deville vs. Zoltan
We’ve a jump start as soon as Zoltan hit the ring, but it’s Deville who looked to have the brightest start in the initial feeling-out process.
Deville and Zoltan teamed-up for a double-team suplex on Dreissker… but he overpowers it before Bielling Deville into Zoltan in the corner. A quick turnaround saw the two combine for a Zoltan step-up dropkick to Dreissker, before they tried to one-up the other with roll-ups.
Duke sneaks in and sent Zoltan flying with a front kick, before a clothesline and a pumphandle powerslam laid out Deville for a two-count. Deville finds time to hit a dive on Dreissker before a wacky shooting star off the apron took out Zoltan, before a moonsault to Duke almost made him the unlikely winner.
Dreissker has his shot now, planting Deville with a death valley driver for a near-fall, before a springboard crossbody to Zoltan got nothing but mat. The Hungarian added a cutter out of the corner, but his dive got tripped up by Duke, who charged in with a flatliner for a near-fall, before Zoltan escaped a Duke’s Decree.
Zoltan’s knee cleared the way for a trip up top, with a frog splash drawing in Dreissker to break up the pin as everyone tried to steal pins…but it was Duke’s crucifix pin on Deville that got the win as Zoltan had been held back from making the break. Alex Duke leaves Oberhausen with the Shotgun title… and that’s not something anyone expected going into the weekender. ***
We’re then taken backstage to Mett Dimassi, who’s going to recap all the happenings from the Pro-Wrestling Grand Prix by way of the Top Moments:
– Ahura beating Joey Janela at Extreme Wrestling Party, and Myron Reed’s challenge afterwards
– Ahura retaining the title less than 24 hours later, this time against Myron Reed
– Ahura refusing to recognise this year’s König der Catcher winner…
– Katsuhiko Nakajima kicking his way through Manders during the König der Catcher tournament… only to lose to the Boss lariat…
– Axel Tischer’s injury withdrawal against Peter Tihanyi…
– Manders’ lariating Dennis Dullnig, only to lose to a roll-up…
– Elijah Blum’s win over Peter Tihanyi, and the ensuing beat-down from Dennis Dullnig…
– …and of course, the König der Catcher final
– From the World Tag Team Tournament, we get Hyperactive’s open challenge from the Saturday…
– The Greedy Souls’ win over the Grind…
– …and of course, the Souls’ finale win
– Jumping back to the König der Catcher, they recap the whole situation that led to Dieter Schwartz getting coaxed into defending the European title, only to lose it to Laurance Roman
– CSI’s title defence against Sinner and Saint continues the jumping around…
– And then it’s time for some Femmes Fatales clips, starting with Kanji’s win over Kay Lee Ray…
– …then Chihiro Hashimoto’s victory over Jane Nero…
– …and of course, the Hashimoto/Kanji final
Deep breath, and now it’s time to visit Fohrwerkmart, with Nordino checking tomatoes, and Peter Tihanyi brawling with Robert Dreissker over some Kinder Pinguis.
Backstage clips now – first, Kanji has no regrets over her loss, especially since she came second to someone she deemed the best in the world. Kanji wants to push ona nd win that title though, so…
Backstage, Dennis Dullnig’s on a sofa celebrating his König der Catcher win, but got interrupted by Ben Thamer. Cash tells him to bugger off, but not before saying that at FAN in Frankfurt, Cash “needs to sit upon his rightful throne.”
CSI’s playing with the wXw trading cards, and throwing away Aleksander Bellamy, Robert Dreissker and the Cleaner. I assume that was Fohrwerk? The Greedy Souls wander in with their trophies, and they’re going to turn that tournament win into a title shot in Hamburg next month.
Next, Nick Schreier’s backstage celebrating Laurance Roman’s European title win, but Roman’s trying to hide his annoyance at how Nick threw him under the bus with the impromptu title shot. They hug it out, but that European title’s gonna cause problems.
10/10 Next Level run into Jane Nero in the locker room. She’s still sour over her semi-final exit, as she wasn’t too impressed with Alex Duke’s Shotgun title win.
Robert Dreissker’s the sort to wear sunglasses indoors, as his debriefing of the weekend was seemingly going nowhere as Isabella was having trouble pushing Robin Christopher Fohrwerk uphill. Fohrwerk vowed that Planet Gojirah would be back, stronger than ever…

Quick & Dirty’s playing video games, but Hugo Brand seemed to be upset at losing at whatever Super Nintendo game they were playing… Cowboy Way are next, they’ve metaphorically kissed and made up… while Peter Tihanyi’s annoyed at how Dennis Dullnig and Ahura were allowed to wander off without anything happening.
