Over the weekend, we eventually unveiled a new look here on BackBodyDrop – one that you can’t really have missed.
A new logo, and a new look… remember that poll on our Twitter a while back about colour schemes? Well, in spite of their health today, it seems that a lot of us has a soft spot for Pro Wrestling NOAH. Or at least, their colours…
We’re still tweaking a few things to fit the lay-out, and you may notice the appearance of “feature articles” every now and then – for instance, during spells when we’re covering a lot of shows in a short space of time (*cough* World Tag Team League *cough*) but the one thing you may have noticed has gone are the tags that used to appear at the bottom of every article. Don’t worry, we’re still using them – however, on the test version of the site, tags didn’t play too nicely, sometimes showing intended results, and others… not. The search function still works, but until we’re confident that tags will display as intended, we’ll be hiding those for the time being.
Along with the new look, we’re hoping to dip our toe in shorter-form reviews, primarily for shows that we want to cover, but perhaps don’t have the time to go massively in-depth for. That’s not to say these shows aren’t worth your time, but we also recognise that 3,000-word reviews of shows that are beyond niche aren’t exactly the best way to spread awareness.
That’s where The Near-Fall comes in – our irregular series of show reviews where we’ll perhaps not go into too much depth on matches, and focus instead on results, stuff to watch out for, and any storylines that are being played out… or even for shows that are pretty newsworthy, but we just can’t get around to covering in a timely manner before the world and their dog were able to see it. Like ALL IN, perhaps…
When we first started BackBodyDrop in 2015, we were barely going to live shows… the Rev Pro TV tapings will take us beyond the 50 show mark for the year, and we’ve got a lot more left in the tank, including two more trips to Germany. That, coupled with an increase in general output from the promotions we cover, and that great wildcard that is “real life” mean that it’s not as viable for us to dedicate hours to a review of a show that in the greater scheme of things, is just a stop-off on a longer journey – and while we have dropped coverage of some promotions, we want to stay as diverse as we can without being too basic.
As ever though, we’re guided by your feedback. Is there anything you want to see us do? Promotions to cover, things to try? Send us a line via Twitter or Facebook, and we’ll try our best!
