We’ve got one more match from this weekend’s drop of wXw matches – and it’s another clash between Elijah Blum and Peter Tihanyi.
This match is behind the wXwNOW paywall as we come via stream from the Factory in Magdeburg, with German commentary courtesy of Emil Völler.
High Performer Ltd. (Peter Tihanyi & Anil Marik) vs. Elijah Blum & Laurance Roman
Of course, as sure as night follows day, Robin Christopher Fohrwerk’s got to sing the praises of his squad as they really love red in Magdeburg. It’s like Fohrwerk’s giving a tryout to the New Brood or something!
Fortunately, the red goes away long before the start of the match… which saw Peter Tihanyi run away as soon as it was clear he would have been facing Elijah Blum. Instead, it’s Anil Marik who gets the High Performer Ltd. team underway, but he’s on the back foot almost immediately as he took a back body drop inside the opening minute.
Things didn’t pick up much when Laurance Roman came in as the former champion charged in with chops in the corner, before a distraction from Peter Tihanyi allowed Marik to break free and take Roman into the corner. Of course, Tihanyi wants in with his opponent on the back foot, but it’s not long before Tihanyi was forced to cover up as a series of strikes from Roman led to an Exploder suplex.
Elijah Blum gets the tag in, but again Tihanyi wants no part of him as Anil Marik was forced in… and again was instantly on the defensive as Blum and Roman worked over the former tag champion. Marik manages to sneak in a jawbreaker to Roman, and there you go, Tihanyi’s interested in tagging in as he again went after Roman, hitting a bodyslam for a two-count as he again went to antagonise Blum on the apron.
Tihanyi tags in Anil Marik… and guess who runs away when Laurance Roman tagged in Blum? This time the cat and mouse chase allowed Marik to cheapshot Blum as he rolled back inside, as Tihanyi this time snuck in some shots behind the referee’s back as Roman’s arguments provided a handy cover for the High Performer Ltd. pair… and earned the Christmas Party Fund €20 thanks to a fine issued Laurance’s way.
With Blum on the defensive, of bleeding course Tihanyi wanted to take his shots, this time tagging in like a cowardly lion as he proceeded to take down Blum with a suplex. A strait-jacket choke’s fought out of, but Blum can’t capitalise as a front kick from Tihanyi keeps him down ahead of a return for Marik.
It’s not long before Blum shoves off a bulldog attempt from Marik, allowing him to make the quick tag to Laurance Roman… who misses sight of a blind tag from Tihanyi, whose flash roll-up just led to him having his lights knocked out by Roman. A quick suplex from Roman’s good for a two-count, before Tihanyi was made to fight out of the opposite corner. Of course, he didn’t miss a shot at Elijah Blum, whose subsequent arguments got him a €50 fine… and meant that referee Tassilo Jung missed some more double-teaming. No, I’m not going to tally up the fines from this weekend’s matches.
A flash diving Meteora from Tihanyi almost puts Roman away… so Tihanyi slows wings down with an abdominal stretch, but it’s hiptossed away as Roman again had to come from behind as the match stretched past the fifteen-minute mark. There’s your cue for a short-distance missile dropkick from Roman to create the opening as he finally got the tag to Elijah Blum… and this time there’s no Anil Marik for Tihanyi to tag in.
Instead, Tihanyi bails and teased walking to the back… but Laurance Roman stops him and threw him back inside as Blum went to work on the champion with clotheslines, then with a neckbreaker, before Tihanyi again tried to crawl away. Marik dives in to stop Blum from hitting a Parting Gift, but Laurance Roman breaks that up… and in the ensuing melee, with the referee distracted, Robin Christopher Fohrwerk comes in to try and hit Blum with his walking stick…
Of course, Blum blocks, but Tihanyi capitalises with a roll-up, counted by referee Tassilo Jung as he stood on the floor. It counts, despite Laurance Roman’s protestations, as High Performer Ltd. steal yet another win on the road.
Result: Peter Tihanyi & Anil Marik pinned Elijah Blum & Laurance Roman in 17:55 (***¼)
Post-match, Anil Marik’s thrown to the wolves as he ate a Parting Gift from Blum… then a piledriver from Roman as a fan in the front row tried to mock Fohrwerk.
