WCPW’s Reloaded recap show returned for its’ first episode of the year in a briefer-than-usual edition, which contained just the one squash match. So this episode is “brought to you by the right cursor key on YouTube – skipping you ahead, five seconds at a time!”
Rebranded as a “fast-paced show” (the viewers will be the judge of that!), we start with Ben Potter recapping the three shows they’ve already had this year, before advertising an exclusive match in amongst the recaps.
So, after I *skip past advert for a magazine* they recap Will Ospreay’s return at the Lights Out before taking Drew Galloway’s WCPW title belt so Drew could do some TNA TV tapings. This leads to the challenges from last week’s Loaded, where Paul Robinson & Scott Wainwright lost against WCPW tag champions Johnny Moss and Liam Slater.
Advert for the True Destiny PPV where Kurt Angle faces Alberto el Patron next month. They also throw in that Will Ospreay will face Ricochet in a rematch from THAT match last year. Bea Priestley will take on Tessa Blanchard… yet they don’t mention the Zack Sabre Jr. vs. Travis Banks rematch that was announced on Twitter before this went up.
We get a recap of how Prince Ameen saved Gabriel Kidd from a mugging by Doug Williams after a show – and now we get a match from the Kirbymania pre-show:
Doug Williams vs. Prince Ameen
There’s no Gabriel Kidd with Ameen here, so this will be a straight-forward singles match. Ameen starts with a wristlock, before grabbing an ear to try and get an upper hand. It’s back and forth early on, before Doug takes over with an armbar. Ameen fights back but is quickly sent into the corner for a leaping knee by Doug, before the Prince hits back with a Samoan drop for a near-fall.
Ameen strings some offence together ending with a spinebuster for a near-fall, before a Pedigree attempt gets blocked. An Exploder gets Doug a two-count, but a Bomb Scare knee drop is countered as Ameen press slams Doug to the floor. From there, Ameen gets a camel clutch, but Doug escapes the hold, throws Ameen into the ringpost, and followed up with a bridging hammerlock for an instant tap-out. Not bad for what it was, but they may as well have put a comic “splat” over this. On the plus side, at least they got some sound out of the Liverpool crowd, so perhaps the Kirbymania special really was ruined by quiet microphones? **
Interestingly the WCPW advert for Orlando still has Joseph Conners on it. Given the events of the past 48 hours with WWE and contracted talent, I’ll be shocked if he makes those shows.
That segues into a recap of the Prospect-to-Orlando angle, which somehow included a mention of Joe Coffey beating Travis Banks. Our next recap is of Martin Kirby getting Joe Hendry’s help to secure the WCPW title belt that Will Ospreay had stolen… and then the intergender match that headlined Loaded this week, with Ospreay and Priestley facing Ricochet and Blanchard.
More recaps of the matches for True Destiny, then a replay of the BT Gunn vignette. Gunn’ll face Travis Banks on Loaded next week… and now they replay clips from Banks’ epic with Zack Sabre Jr from the Lights Out event. That leads into the announcement of the Banks/Sabre match at the iPPV – which makes me wonder why they didn’t add that earlier.
They plug that WhatCulture Extra is the only place you can see Loaded on-demand – a decision that still rankles within the YouTube comments – which leads to a replay of lengthy clips that leads to the ending of this week’s Sabre Jr/Kidd match.
All in, this was a show that was just there. Unless you’re a huge fan of Doug Williams or Prince Ameen, there’s nothing to see here – move along!
