For the last time this year, Rev Pro’s at the Priory Centre in St. Neots – a venue that’s about to undergo some renovation (hence this being the final show there for eighteen months… so I guess, see you here for Season’s Beatings 2025, if all goes well!)
It’d be remiss not to bring up the sad news of James Castle’s passing last weekend – and it’s marked here with a ten bell salute, some six months on from the last time Rev Pro had to do this, sadly, in the same building. Much love goes out to all those who knew and loved him, be it in or out of the ring.
Commentary for this show comes from Andy Quildan and David Francisco.
Scotty Rawk vs. JJ Gale
It’s a Rev Pro return for Rawk, who debuted back in November against Robbie X…
Some shoving got us underway before Gale ratcheted up the pace as he crashed into Rawk with an uppercut. Rawk spits in JJ’s face in return, baiting him through… but it backfired as Gale snapped him down with an armdrag.
Gale’s dropkick takes Rawk outside for a plancha, before Rawk dove into the ropes to crotch Gale on the top rope. Running boots trapped the downed Gale in the corner ahead of an over-the-knee brainbuster for a two-count as Gale remained on the defensive.
Ducking a chop, Gale’s able to mount a comeback with some forearms in the corner, only to get tripped up before he trapped Rawk in the corner with more uppercuts. A spinning heel kick led to a German suplex and a Slingblade on Rawk for a near-fall, before a corkscrew springboard uppercut out of the corker almost got the win.
Rawk kicks out Gale’s legs mid-springboard, turning the match on its head as a bridging German suplex almost got the Grimsby native the win. A straight-forward punt to Gale’s head in the corner, then a flip powerbomb and a crushing double stomp off the top gets a similar result, thanks to a lax cover.
From there, Gale smashed his way back in with a rolling elbow, before the Gale Force springboard cutter proved to be more than enough to put away the cocky Rawk. A cracking opener that packed a lot into the time they had. ***¼
Safire Reed, Mercedez Blaze & Lizzy Evo vs. Ronnie Knocks, Evie Madden & Artemis
We’ve a trio of debuts on one side, with ring announcer Francesca bailing… which led to Lizzy Evo taking over the role. One side got much more fanfare than the other from Lizzy.
Knocks, Madden and Artemis were jumped as they hit the ring… the ring’s cleared as Artemis got triple-teamed, leading to a hammerlock DDT from Blaze before the bell. Eventually Reed and Evo leave the ring so the match can start, but Artemis’ predicament remained, eating a neckbreaker before she broke out of a butterfly… and Firemans carried Balze into the corner.
Madden and Knocks come in so they can get slammed onto Blaze, leading to Ronnie getting a two-count. She lost track of Blaze though, allowing Reed to tag in… Knocks was able to kick Reed out of the corner ahead of some headscissors and an O’Connor roll for just a one-count.
Evo’s in next, as is Madden, who fights through with clotheslines before Evo got caught with a spinebuster. Blaze breaks up the pin as things flared up, leading to Knocks eating a Tower of Blaze as Reed and Artemis scrapped on the outside. Madden’s back to try her luck on Evo, but Lizzy slips out and just boots her in the midsection, before an Evo spear and a Reed Shining Wizard got the win. Under four minutes here, and as much as I hated how their “day one” was in Southampton, this was a statement win in short order. ***
Post-match, Reed, Evo and Blaze continued the fight… throwing Artemis into the front row before they stood tall on the stage.
Ricky Knight Jr. vs. Vaughn Vertigo
We’ve another Rev Pro debut here, with “the V Guy” finally making his bow on his latest trip to the UK. His 11th, thanks to David Francisco’s count!
RKJ’s in control from the off, taking Vertigo into the corner… but the Canadian ducks a chop, then threw one of his own. Oh boy. RKJ hits back, then took him into the ropes for an overhand chop… then the Vinnie Jones. RKJ chops Vertigo to the outside, but back inside a PK and a standing moonsault gave Vertigo an opening.
Vertigo stays on RKJ from there, clotheslining RKJ to the outside ahead of a snap plancha. Returning back inside, a tope atomico keeps Vertigo on top, before a hook kick and a springboard forearm to the back of the head took Vaughn down. A death valley driver’s next to launch Vertigo into the corner, while a pair of running dropkicks into the corner led to a draping DDT for another near-fall.
RKJ hoists up Vertigo for a stalling suplex, but the Canadian knees his way out of it and hit back with a satellite DDT… another over-the-knee brainbuster adds a near-fall. A rolling elbow out of the corner dumps RKJ to the mat… before a top rope senton was caught by RKJ.
From there, RKJ’s powerbomb’s rolled through, but he countered the counter and got back in for a sit-out powerbomb that almost won it. A blistering chop in the corner woke up St. Neots, but leaves Vertigo ragged as he was lifted up top for a muscle buster… which he fought free of, shoving RKJ down to the mat for the Vaughn-ton Bomb to the back. Shades of Delirious!
A Shining Wizard’s next, but RKJ’s up at two from that… capitalising on some dawdling from Vertigo to come right back with a press slam and a muscle buster for the win. A good showing in defeat from Vertigo as he pushed RKJ all the way – but in the end that Muscle Buster was more than enough to get him over the line. ***½
Luke Jacobs vs. Robbie X
These two have history in Rev Pro, sharing two wins apiece and a no-contest in the past…
Luke took the back of Robbie X early, but a cross armbreaker ends in the ropes before Robbie X hit back with a crucifix pin for a two-count in response. Jacobs suckers in Robbie X with a handshake, instead hitting a kick to the gut before catching a leapfrog as he slammed Robbie to the mat.
Breaking free, Robbie X vaults to the outside, then caught Jacobs with a springboard armdrag and a springboard crossbody, before a dropkick… didn’t even get a one-count. Jacobs looks to build back up with a deadlift suplex from the outside back in, following up with a back senton as Robbie X was now thoroughly on the defensive.
Robbie’s bounced into the corner with an Irish whip, sending him outside for respite. Jacobs gave chase and sent him back in… but a powerbomb attempt is blocked as Robbie’s back body drop got him free. A hiptoss and cartwheel dropkick looked to see Robbie build momentum, as did a Molly Go Round and a missile dropkick off the top, but it’s only enough for a two-count.
Robbie slams Jacobs to the mat, then heads up top… but the moonsault’s aborted as Luke got up and hit a forearm. In return, Robbie X’s wheelbarrow looked to set up for a deadlift German suplex, but instead it led to a Beyblade kick and a standing shooting star press out of the corner for a near-fall.
Jacobs turns it around with a German suplex out of Robbie’s handspring… another, bridging German suplex nearly wins it for the Mancunian. A DDT sees Robbie X escape another powerbomb, following up with a Spiral Tap for a near-fall, before a superkick led to… Jacobs lariating Robbie out of the X-Claimation. Luke adds a powerbomb, but from the kickout, he takes too long going for a half crab and almost got rolled up.
From that kick out, Luke ends up putting Robbie X away with a wild lariat… and that’s all folks. After slipping up in Southampton, Jacobs almost took back-to-back losses that would have derailed his Copperbox plans. ***½
Post-match, Jacobs rolls Robbie X into the half crab… prompting JJ Gale to come out and hit a Gale Force on Luke to break it up. Lee Dawson’s in the wrong place at the wrong time as Jacobs laid into him as he headed to the back…
Chris Ridgeway vs. Zozaya
Zozaya’s riding high after beating Luke Jacobs last time out in Southampton… but he’s out here with a shoulder strap a la Chris Brookes, and there’s an instant target there.
Some grappling on the mat ends in the ropes with Zozaya slapping Ridgeway as he refused to break. More grappling sees Zozaya go for a pin attempt, but Ridgeway keeps his shoulders up as things end up in the ropes with another cheapshot on the break. Rather than engage, Zozaya takes down Ridgeway with some Gator rolls before things broke down into palm strikes.
A kick to the gut sank Zozaya, whose attempt at a dropkick missed… unlike a second roll through into a dropkick. After charges into the corner, Ridgeway shoved the ref into the ropes as Zozaya was up top… sending the Spaniard flying as Ridgeway added a Kitchen Sink knee and a vile kick to the back into the mix.
A second Kitchen Sink follows, before Ridgeway continued to rough up the Spaniard with a finger snapper. After being sent outside, Zozaya returns… but gets kneed in the ribs ahead of another PK for a two-count, before some choking in the ropes kept Zozaya on the defensive.
Firing back, Zozaya’s forearms were cut off with a knee to the gut, before Zozaya caught a leaping clothesline and turned it into a swinging belly-to-belly. NICE! Following up with a shoulder charge, before a marching overhead throw, Zozaya’s able to get a two-count despite Ridgeway’s attempt at raking the eye.
Out of nowhere though, Ridgeway trips up Zozaya for an ankle lock… then lifted him up for a kick to the chest. A second punt to the shoulder, then a double stomp adds a near-fall, before Zozaya found a way back in with a brainbuster. Ridgeway ensured Zozaya couldn’t build on that as kicks led to a diving knee in the ropes, before a high kick from Zozaya nearly nicked the win.
From there, a double jump splash off the top finds its mark on Ridgeway, but it’s not enough as the Spaniard was delayed in making a cover… a moonsault off the top misses though, allowing Ridgeway back in with a kick, then another, but the lackadaisical cover still coast Ridgeway. He follows that up with a sheer-drop brainbuster, but Zozaya doesn’t stay down… so Ridgeway paintbrushes him with palm strikes ahead of a blow to the midsection.
Zozaya’s pulled up from there for a second heart punch, before he peppered Zozaya with kicks… Zozaya collapses to avoid one more, but it’s a fake out as he popped up out of nowhere to plant Ridgeway with the de Madrid al cielo DVD for the win. This match had its moments, but will be remembered for its physicality. ***
Post-match, Ricky Knight Jr. approached Zozaya on the stage, but just barged past him.
Nina Samuels vs. Kanji
Francesca bails again as Nina Samuels did ring announcing for her first appearance in Rev Pro since February 2018. It’s been a while…
Ducking a right hand in the corner, Kanji starts by working over Samuels’ wrist, taking Nina to the mat ahead of an arm breaker a la ZSJ. Breaking back with a forearm, Nina whips Kanji into the corners, with Kanji taking one a la Bret Hart before she caught Nina with a triangle armbar.
Samuels lifts Kanji between the ropes to break, slingshotting her into the top rope before breaking through with some stomps. A hair mare threw Kanji across the ring as Nina controlled proceedings, using the ropes to wear down Kanji before she targeted Kanji’s arm with knee drops.
Tying up Kanji leads to a bow-and-arrow stretch as Nina again dominated, following up with some forearms from above. An O’Connor roll gives Kanji a brief two-count, but a swift clothesline put Nina back in the driver’s seat. A boot choke wears down Kanji in the corner… but she ducks a running kick and jacks the knee before a swivelling clothesline took Samuels off her feet.
Samuels telegraphs a shoulder charge through the ropes, which Kanji avoided as she proceeded to chop a trapped Samuels… then headed up top for a missile dropkick. It’s good for a two-count though, before Samuels caught Kanji up top with a head kick, then looked to bring her down. It’s blocked as Kanji instead lifted up Nina for a hanging sleeperhold, adding some crossface punches after the release as a headbutt took Nina down to earth with a bump.
A hanging armbar in the ropes followed from Kanji as she baited Nina into her clutches, following up with a slingshot spear back in for a two-count. Slaps from Kanji led to a telegraphed rolling elbow, before a drop toe hold from Samuels took Kanji into the buckles. A Yakuza kick’s next in the corner, before Kanji got trapped between the ropes… but another dropkick misses as Kanji ended up getting dragged through the ropes for an axe kick.
On the apron, Kanji’s shoved into the ring post before Samuels tried to use the ring post to dislocate the shoulder… Kanji pulls Nina back into the ring post to break things up, before the pair reset by trading shots. Another boot to the head from Samuels found its way through, but she telegraphs a back body drop before landing a nice tiltawhirl backbreaker. Kanji’s right back with a clothesline to the back of the head as the pair fell to the mat… but Kanji’s back up first with another triangle armbar, only for Samuels to power out into an ushigoroshi for a couple of near-falls.
Roughing up Kanji again, Samuels throws her into the mat, before the pair charged into the corner… the ref cowers, allowing Nina to rake the eyes before a spin-out Go 2 Sleep gets the win. This was a really good outing, and Nina winning clean, without any help from the rest of her group should be noted… ***½
Connor Mills vs. Leon Slater
Last time these two met in Rev Pro, Slater beat Mills to win the Cruiserweight title back in December… and Leon picked up another win over Mills earlier in the weekend on Burning Heart’s debut show in Liverpool.
Going back-and-forth to start, Slater finds a way through with a shoulder tackle before Mills went for an ankle lock… only for Slater to break free and return with a tijeras. Things spill outside for a plancha, before Mills used a Dragon screw to yank Slater off the top rope and take him down to the floor.
A second Dragon Screw greeted Mills back in the ring, as Mills looked in firm control with a kick to the back, then with some manipulation to the wrist and fingers as he went in for a Deathlock. Mills stays on Slater’s left leg, but Leon’s handspring back elbow forged an opening.
Going back to the leg, Mills escaped a Blue Thunder Bomb, only to get popped up into the middle of the ring, ahead of a back body drop as that Blue Thunder Bomb eventually landed for a near-fall. Mills counters a Twister suplex into a small package, before he manipulated his way back in for an ankle lock.
Slater rolls free, but couldn’t avoid a follow-up PK, nor a Ki Krusher as Mills almost took home the win. A knee bar forces Slater to the ropes, as he recovered with an up-kick and a leg lariat to counter Mills’ rebound lariat. It leaves Mills laying in the corner as Slater went up for a swanton 450… but out comes Will Kaven for a distraction as Slater’s forearm off the apron crushed him.
Kaven grabs onto Slater’s legs, allowing Mills to punt the bad knee again ahead of a Burning Cutter back inside for the win. A decent enough match, and it looks like we’re getting Kaven/Slater next weekend on the Sheffield/Stevenage swing. ***¼
Post-match, Slater hobbled to the back… while Mills called out Ethan Allen for a match at the Copperbox in two months’ time.
Alex Windsor vs. Anita Vaughan
Can you feel it? It’s a main event debut for the Corkonian Vaughan, taking on Alex Windsor, who’s back from her recent rampage…
Windsor jumps Vaughan at the bell with a diving knee, but Anita’s able to shake it off and take down the former champion with a shoulder tackle. Charging Windsor into the corner, Vaughan followed up with a snapping fallaway slam, then some running elbows into the corner.
A drop toe hold’s waiting as Vaughan charged her way into the buckles, with Windsor capitalising with shots to the lower back. Windsor’s side Russian legsweep, then a short-range clothesline gets her a two-count, before Vaughan booted her way out of the corner and picked up a two-count with another roll-up.
Windsor’s forearm turned the match right back around though, allowing her to surf on Vaughan’s back before a brief Sharpshooter ended in the ropes. Hitting the ropes, Windsor’s sent flying as she ran into shoulder tackles, before a wild chop and a Falcon Arrow drew a near-fall.
Vaughan connects with a right hand and a big boot before she ran into a headbutt from Windsor… sending both women laying. Mocking Vaughan, Windsor gets taken into the corner as the pair traded forearms, leading to a discus clothesline from Windsor after they’d broken out of the corner.
Vaughan avoids a PK and cradles Windsor for a near-fall, then hit a PK of her own… before she rolled Alex up into a sit-out powerbomb. It’s almost enough for the win, only for Windsor to counter a pull-up into a headbutt, before a side slam got the win. A decent debut showing for Vaughan, but this perhaps felt a little flat as a main event in this particular venue. HOWEVER… ***
Post-match, Windsor pulled up Vaughan with a handshake, before the quartet of Lizzy Evo, Nina Samuels, Mercedez Blaze and Safire Reed came out. Alex Windsor bails, leaving Anita Vaughan to take a beating… before contenders and referees were laid out as they tried to make the save. Evie Madden, Ronnie Knocks and Artemis come out to try and even things up, but they’re wiped out, ending with Artemis taking a Cerberus bomb ahead of Reed’s double stomp as Artemis had been suspended off the mat.
Kanji’s out to try and make a dent, but it’s four-on-one… with a save finally made by Alex Windsor who came out swinging the dog collar and chain to clear the ring and stand tall alongside Kanji, Knocks, Madden and Artemis. Windsor ends the night as the fifth women, but I do wonder… whose side is she on?!
