We’ve another Fight Forever preview match, this time coming from before Shortcut to the Top.
We’re at the Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen for this latest preview of the upcoming Fight Forever shows – complete with more Fight Forever-ish branding. Dave Bradshaw’s doing English commentary for this version on YouTube:
Nick Schreier vs. Alex Kane
Kane won on his last appearance in Germany, beating Elijah Blum in the warm-up for Dead End 2022…
Kane starts by taking Schreier into the corner, then Biel’ing him out of it… dropkicks from Nick catch Kane, but they eventually miss before Kane caught him in an Exploder, throwing him across the ring. Schreier’s taken into the corner for chops and clotheslines, before another Exploder chucked Nick out of the corner. Schreier tries to fight back, but gets clubbed down and thrown across the ring once more. Alex is living up to that Suplex Assassin nickname here, and it’s winning over parts of Oberhausen… Clubbing forearms on the apron led to a splash… but Schreier moves away as Kane got all that edge of the ring, then a tope as Schreier looked to capitalise.
Back inside, Schreier scores with a tiltawhirl DDT, before a crossbody off the top nearly put Kane away. A roll-up follows for another near-fall, before a clothesline from Kane took Nick down… as did a uranage, which almost won the match… before Schreier found a counter to a suplex, rolling up Kane out of a vertical suplex to snatch the win. A bit of an upset this, with Kane perhaps taking Schreier a little too lightly towards the end.
Result: Nick Schreier pinned Alex Kane in 4:47 (***)
Watching this match, you can tell this was a lot more suited as a preview piece for Fight Forever than the previous outing – with the graphics all being ready and thrown on-screen, along with match teasers (Alex Kane vs. Peter Tihanyi, Nick Schreier vs. Fast Time Moodo) that weaved this teaser into the rest of the series.
