We’re starting the preview early – as wXw is well on the road to their first World Tag Team Festival since 2019.
With Catch Grand Prix having taken over the slot in 2020 and 2021 (albeit with some heavy asterisks, given 2020’s event was taped in front of a limited crowd, while 2021’s was dialled down to a one-night event), we’re back to the old days of tag team tournaments taking over autumn.
As for confirmed tournament entrants, we’ve got both the fields for World Tag Team Festival and Femmes Fatales wrapped up:
World Tag Team Festival 2022
Group A: Frenchadors (Senza Volto & Aigle Blanc); SAniTy (Eric Young & Axel Tischer); Pretty Bastards (Ahura & Maggot); Calamari Drunken Kings (Chris Brookes & Masahiro Takanashi)
Group B: Rott und Flott (Nikita Charisma & Michael Schenkenberg); Shigehiro Irie & Fuminori Abe; Violence is Forever (Dominic Garrini & Kevin Ku); Amboss (Icarus & Robert Dreissker)
Femmes Fatales 2022
Orsi – first name announced, having earned qualification as a reward for winning the Surprise Benefit Scramble at Broken Rules…
Masha Slamovich – called her shot after beating Orsi in June…
Killer Kelly – announced her return at Shortcut to the Top. It’ll be five years since Kelly made her debut in style in the same tournament.
Ava Everett – last time Everett was in Oberhausen, she won the wXw Women’s title… will Oberhausen remain a happy hunting ground?
Iva Kolasky – the former women’s champion hasn’t been able to string too many wins together since losing her title at Carat… winning Femmes Fatales would propel her back into contention
Nicky Foxley – her last two outings in wXw have been in unsuccessful shots at the title, against Baby Allison and Iva Kolasky… can Foxley mount an unsuspecting challenge as an outsider?
Aliss Ink – a regular in Denmark for BODYSLAM, Ink has worked around Europe, including a few matches in England, but will be making her wXw debut here after she was forced to drop off of an appearance at 16 Carat Gold weekend back in March.
Anastasia Bardot – another debut for the French native, who’s appeared a lot for France’s APC, Austria’s Rings of Europe and Portugal’s CTW.
Of course, it’s taking place at the Turbinenhalle in Oberhausen, and as with any good festival weekender these days, there’s a lot going on, so here’s a quick look at the schedule and cards so far:
