We’re in Nagano for the sixth round of G1 Climax matches, and this time we’re back to block B and an extremely promising line-up, headlined by Katsuyori Shibata vs. Michael Elgin in a mouthwatering contest.

PROGRESS wrapped up it’s first calendar year of business with their fourth show in November 2012 – entitled “The Ballad of El Ligero”. This was the show where El Ligero got his title shot against Nathan Cruz, coming on the heels of several matches where Ligero went against his long-standing clean cut character to cheat his way to the top.
WhatCulture Pro Wrestling held their first “supercard” via YouTube this past Monday night, with the “Built To Destroy” event. It also signaled the start of a series of changes behind the scenes in the promotion, not all of which were for the better.
It’s easy to say that Battleground was a forgotten PPV. Lost in the shuffle with the WWE draft and imminent reboot, Battleground was a badly timed annoyance, which was evident with a “holding pattern” style of booking.
Fukushima was host to day five of this year’s G1 Climax, and it was block A who had to try and at least match what we saw in Tokyo just 24 hours previously.
In one of our prior commentaries, we talked about one company that is leading the way in British wrestling – at least as far as having a television outlet goes. NGW’s got a weekly television show, produced and commentated on by Alex Shane. The former “Showstealer”, when he was an active wrestler. As for this show, taped as a part of NGW’s 8th anniversary event, is Alex going to steal it, or ruin it?
You absolutely need to see this show! Or at least the final two matches… It’s back to Korakuen Hall today for the fourth round of this year’s G1 Climax – with block B action featuring Michael Elgin vs. Tetsuya Naito and an enticing encounter with Katsuyori Shibata and NOAH’s Katsuhiko Nakajima.
With the promise of Kazuchika Okada vs. SANADA, New Japan’s gotten a lot of people out of bed early on Saturday morning (or in the States, kept them up very late on Friday night!), so let’s get to it! Day two in the first four-day stretch of the G1 Climax continues now…
