Hidden amongst the glut of independent shows across WrestleMania Weekend was the latest in SHIMMER’s events, as the all-womens group held a one-night tournament to crown its first ever Heart of SHIMMER champion. By the time their Saturday afternoon show ended, they’d also have a fairly high-profile new signing as well.

WrestleMania weekend was big for NXT in more ways than one. Friday night’s Takeover: Dallas show ended up blowing WrestleMania out of the water as far as critical acclaim, whilst Baron Corbin finally made his main roster debut courtesy of the Andre the Giant Battle Royal. Maybe Baron will stop being a moody so-and-so now he’s finally up there? Of course, there was more on Raw…
Whilst this weekend was undoubtedly headlined by WrestleMania – and with a WWE-record attendance in Dallas, how could it not – a lot of eyeballs were also directed towards the independent scene this weekend. Would they also make it big in Texas?
So, it’s been almost ten hours since WrestleMania came to it’s epic conclusion. Epic as in runtime, if nothing else. By the time we saw Roman Reigns win his third WWE title, the majority of the (legitimate) 93,000+ crowd in Dallas were left feeling drained, and wondering just what on earth they saw.
It’s WrestleMania Sunday! And you know what that means… the biggest WrestleMania in history, which ended up being the longest WrestleMania in History. And Good Lord, it sure felt like it by the end!
Independent group EVOLVE had the honour of hosting the first wrestling show on WrestleMania weekend, with a Friday evening event at Eddie Deen’s Ranch – a venue that the WWNlive promotions took over for the weekend. Fortunately, I’d ordered the live show plus the “on demand” offering for all of WWNlive’s events this weekend; as we’ll cover in another article, the group had a lot of issues streaming, leading to the group offering freebies as a make-good. So unless you were present at the ranch, the best way to catch this would have been on-demand, unless you like buffering…
WrestleMania weekend officially starts in the ring tonight, and BackBodyDrop.com – in conjunction with Wrestling-Online.com – brought you live coverage of an early candidate for show-of-the-year: NXT Takeover in Dallas, TX.
With the majority of the wrestling world watching in Texas, New Japan continued their track to next weekend’s Invasion Attack special with another show from Korakuen Hall. This show as made available for everyone, free of charge, via New Japan World, so expect a lot of references to buffering in this report!
